June 29: Mad Hatter Days

Get ready for some MAD fun at The Public House! We're about to tap six kegs of insanely delicious Mad Hatter beer. The insanity will last six days. We'll go mad, one keg, and one day at a time. Make sure to like us on Facebook so you know which Mad Hatter we're tapping each night.

  • Black Hatter IPA - brewed with black malt for a roasty sweetness.
  • Oak Aged Hatter IPA - aged in Kentucky barrels for its distinctive aromatic hoppiness.
  • White Hatter - Belgian-style white with hoppy citrus notes of an IPA.
  • Farmhouse Hatter IPA - Belgian-style pale ale with wheat and pilsner malts.
  • Rye Hatter IPA - rye and barley malt with a fresh citrus finish.
  • Imperial Hatter IPA - Lively grapefruit and citrus notes blend with this ale's bold hop character.

Cinco de Micro: So many beers. So little time.

And that's all going to change this Sunday at the Public House - Ghent's premier gastropub.

From noon to 5 p.m., you can sample 15 of 50 delicious craft beers at our second annual Cinco de Micro. Fifteen dollars lets you decide which micro beer samples you want to add to your knowledge of fine hops, flavors and hints of divineness. Add another $5 and we'll give you a commemorative glass and enhanced bragging rights.

We'll be serving our standard ample fare in addition to Karl's Grande Burrito. If you're lucky, you may even make a toast with our special guest: The Invisible Swordsman.

Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil

We love a good beer dinner - especially when it features five brews from the Devils Backbone Brewing Company. We'll be serving six courses this Sunday, April 21, at the Public House. Find out firsthand why the brewery's Vienna Lager won a gold medal in the 2012 World Beer Cup., an international beer competition. That's just one of the beers we'll be pouring. Arrive at 6:30 p.m. Seating at 7 p.m. $60 per person. Hosted by longtime Norfolk restauranteur Karl Dornemann.
